Syllabus
This course is an introductory course in management, design to familiarize undergraduate students with the general concepts and theoretical foundations of the field of management. The students will become familiar with broad areas of management and develop the fundamental skills required to effectively manage self and others, develop strategy for companies and make them competitive globally. Specifically, we will focus on certain management competencies and behaviors that lead to positive organizational outcomes. The course foundation is rooted in the understanding of the firm and role of labor, firm management, human resources, importance of accounting and finance, and performance management. A large portion of the course will be devoted to these topics as they are essential to formulation of the firm’s business strategy. The course is fully compliant with the Core Management Concepts course guide of University of London.

We also remind you in our course there is a flexible system of penalties for handing in work after the deadline. So, you can hand in your work later, but with a loss of points.
Please find the information about the deadlines, late submissions and penalties.
Late submissions will lead to reduction of your mark for an assignment.
0 day late - 10 points 🏆
1 day late - 9 points ⬇️
2 days late - 8 points ⬇️
3 days late - 7 points ⬇️
4 days late - 6 points ⬇️
5 days late - 5 points ⬇️
6 days late - 4 points ⬇️
7 days late - 0 points ❌
Example: 2 days late. An assignment meets the criteria for 75% (quality of the answer, depth, examples, etc.). Final mark is 0,75 * 8 = 6
If you have a valid reason (i.e. illness) to submit your homework after the deadline, please contact your teaching assistant.
Grading system
Interim assessment (2nd module)
2d module grade = 0.5 * 2d Module Exam + 0.15 * 1st Module Midterm Test + 0,35 * 1-2 modules In-class and take-home written assignments, presentations, quizzes
Interim assessment (3d module)
3d module grade' = 0.5 * 3d Module Exam + 0,5 * In-class and take-home written assignments, presentations, quizzes
Final course grade = 0.65 * Interim assessment (2nd module) + 0.35 * Interim assessment (3d module)
Retakes are organized in accordance with the HSE Interim and Ongoing Assessment Regulations. Grade determination after retakes is done in accordance with the syllabus.
