Full syllabus for the course, lecture notes, problems sets for seminars, home assignments and exam preparation resources are published on the course home page in smart LMS. All important announcements regarding the course are also done via smart LMS.

Final grade for this course (rounded to nearest integer) is computed as:

  • 40% of fall semester grade
  • 60% of spring semester grade

Fall semester grade (rounded to nearest integer) is computed as:

  • 15% average grade for autumn in-class quizzes (typically written at the start of each class), rounded to 1st decimal. If you miss a quiz for a verified reason recognized by your study office, it’s not counted towards average; otherwise it is counted as «0».
  • 15% average grade for autumn home assignments (5 or 6 HAs), rounded to 1st decimal. Home assignment submitted after deadline = «0», no matter the reason.
  • 25% autumn mid-term test. If missed for a verified reason, its weight can be transferred to final winter test.
  • 45% final winter test. Can be retaken twice. Second time = retake graded by commission. Commission = all accumulated grades are discarded; if you pass you get «4» for the fall semester.

Spring semester grade (rounded to nearest integer) is computed as:

  • 10% average grade for spring in-class quizzes (typically written at the start of each class), rounded to 1st decimal. If you miss a quiz for a verified reason recognized by your study office, it’s not counted towards average; otherwise it is counted as «0».
  • 10% average grade for spring home assignments (5 or 6 HAs), rounded to 1st decimal. Home assignment submitted after deadline = «0», no matter the reason.
  • 20% spring mid-term test. If missed for a verified reason, its weight can be transferred to final spring test.
  • 60% final spring test. Final spring test covers the content of the entire course. Can be retaken twice. Second time = retake graded by commission. Commission = all accumulated grades are discarded; if you pass you get «4» for the course.
