Grading system
Type | Form | Symbol | Value |
---|---|---|---|
Intermediate | Class discussions | G_seminars | 40 % |
Intermediate | Test 1 (1st module) | G_test-1 | 10 % |
Intermediate | Test 2 (2nd module) | G_test-2 | 10 % |

A final assessment combines an intermediate and a midterm assessments, according to the formulae: G_final = G_seminars * 40% + G_test-1 * 10% + G_test-2 * 10% + G_exam * 40%. The intermediate assessment is based on an average grade for seminars (G_seminar), and two grades for the tests (G_test-1 and G_test-2). At the end of each seminar, the lecturer assesses students’ participation by giving them a mark (a tick or plus), which depends on how often they contribute to discussions, the quality of statements and arguments, as well as their general cognition with the readings. To calculate the average (G_seminars), all marks of each student are divided into the total number of seminars and multiplied by ten at the end of the second module. Please note: the course does not have any specific attendance requirements, but generally students are not allowed to make up for their absences in class. Exception: a student has three or more excused absences (an illness or any other unforeseen circumstances). Type Form Symbol Value Every test has ten tasks. The grade for each test (G_test-1 and G_test-2) is calculated according to the table below. No retakes are allowed.
