How to Fix a Jammed Kitchen Faucet

A jammed faucet can be a difficult problem to handle. The first step is to replace the diverter. It can be a very messy thing, so you may need to get some help. Remove the handle

Remove the lock

If you're not able to remove the handle, use a hammer to strike the faucet's handle. Make sure you use counterclockwise pressure as you try to remove the lock. Taping on the faucet's stem may cause damage. To get a new faucet handle, remove the decorative cap on the top of the faucet. Install the new handle and tighten it. After that, you can pop the decorative cap back into place. If this doesn't work, use a screwdriver to remove the recessed cap.

If you have a metal faucet, you can try removing the handle by using a hammer. Be sure to use the counterclockwise direction when tapping, as tapping the stem may damage the valve.
